Building a habitat
Check List:
Plastic Bin or Cage
-at least 104-110qt
-These dimensions work best:(34”L x 18”W x 12”H)
-Cage of similar size will work (avoid wire cages, their little legs can get stuck)
-if you get a cage, make sure its at least 28" in length and tall enough in heigh to accommodate for the exercise wheel
Large Running wheel
-at least 12” in diameter
Water Bottle & Shallow water bowl (very important to have both until they learn how to use water bottle)
-Make sure it’s a ball bearing one, no spring loaded
USE FILTERED OR BOTTLE WATER ONLY- NO TAP WATER
Hide Hut (ex. Plastic igloos)
Bedding/Habitat Liner
-If you choose wood shavings, avoid cedar! (Only use aspen or pine)
-Other options: paper bedding or fleece
Heat Source
To keep habitat between 74-76 degrees, you will need:
-Ceramic heat emitter (non-light, 100W)
-Clamp Lamp (minimum size 8.5 inch)
-Digital Heat Thermostat
Food:
-Good Quality Kitten food (they currently eat Purina kitten chow (yellow bag)
-dried or live meal worms for treats
